Strixhaven, Episode 9: This Week in Brewing (April 30, 2021)
Strixhaven may not be the flashiest set but that doesn't mean there isn't still new spice to savor. With the CEO on vacation, David and Damon take a look at some of the wildest tech from last week: 5c Reclaimer Scapeshift, Velomachus Time Warps, Brought Back Control, and Inspiring Statuary Paradoxical Outcome, to name just a few. They also lend a critical eye to two listener submitted decks using Birgi, God of Storytelling in this week's Brew Review.

Strixhaven, Episode 8: Magma Opus (Brew Session) + Kasmina, Enigma Sage (Flashback)
Eight mana, no problems. Big, flashy mythics are usually destined for Commander rather than serious constructed play, but Magma Opus might be different. The option to make a quick Treasure, while conveniently stashing your payoff spell in the graveyard, opens up a whole canvas of possibilities. From big mana engines to Torrential Gearhulk, there's plenty of options for the Prismari combo virtuoso. We break down five new decks for cheating out Magma Opus in Modern and Pioneer, with a little help from returning guest Zach "ManaCymbal" Ryl.
Meanwhile on the Flashback, last week's decks with Kasmina, Enigma Sage racked up way more wins than expected (and a healthy dose of losses as well). Clearly Kasmina is a synergy piece with very little standalone power, but which payoffs unlock her -8 most effectively? Enter the Infinite notched a 4-1, but Obliterate, Emergent Ultimatum, and even Body of Research made cameo appearances in our test leagues.

Strixhaven, Episode 7: This Week in Brewing (April 23, 2021)
Zach Ryl aka ManaCymbal makes his triumphant return to break down the first week of Strixhaven results in Modern and Pioneer. Among the top tier decks, Dredge got a new toy and Prowess got a new color, but there were also a few surprises in the 5-0s. The crew also lends a critical eye to two different listener takes on Galazeth Prismari in the Brew Review.

Strixhaven, Episode 6: Kasmina, Enigma Sage
What if every planeswalker had an extra +2 loyalty ability, and a powerful -8 ultimate? For some, it would make no difference at all. For others, these new abilities would be a game changer. Teferi, Master of Time would gain loyalty at a frightening rate. Many walkers would now be able to ultimate the turn after coming into play. For others, such as Narset, Parter of Veils, the bonus +2 could fuel even more activations of a powerful minus. On top of all that, every planeswalker now gets a wonky ability to make tokens, if push comes to shove.
These are just some of the riddles posed by Kasmina, Enigma Sage. On the surface Kasmina is an underpowered card, barely giving you back a full card worth of value unless you happen to reach her -8. Everything depends on the synergies that Kasmina unlocks. But there's no denying some of these combinations are powerful. We're pushing Fractals to the limit this week with a half dozen new takes on Kasmina in Modern and Pioneer. Let's see what she can do!

Strixhaven, Episode 5: This Week in Brewing + Brew Review
Some sets have blue chip brew-arounds, cards that everyone is clamoring for, cards that shatter download records as soon as our new episode drops. Other sets have... Codie, Vociferous Codex? We asked our listeners which Strixhaven cards they most wanted to see in action, and the #1 request was the Curious Codex. A bold choice to be sure -- suffice to say, there's a reason we skipped this card during our preview episodes!
Meanwhile, we check in on the state of Modern and tweak out Narset's Undoing to keep crushing in Pioneer. After that, the Brew Review returns with a look at two spicy lists submitted by listeners, featuring Emergent Sequence and Ecological Appreciation. This is going to be a wild season, let's start brewing!
